WordPress install on WampServer

In this post I will show you how to install WordPress on Wampserver. WordPress is a Content Management Sofware(CMS) used to develop websites and blogs. It is a highly  customizable CMS. There plenty of free plugins available at the WordPress repository for different functionalities. You can easily add functionalities to your website by installing new plugins which is a very easy task. There are also plenty of free themes in the WordPress site using which you can easily change the look and feel of your website. There are also premium themes if you want more advanced look and feel. WordPress was used by more than 23.3% of the top 10 million websites as of January 2015.

WampServer is a software stack for the Microsoft Windows operating system, consisting of the Apache web server, OpenSSL for SSL support, MySQL database and PHP programming language. You can download WampServer from here and install on your system.

Now you can download WordPress from here and extract the zip file. At the time of writing this WordPress version is 4.3.1. Now run your WampServer and from the tray icon  right click and open the web root folder (www) and copy the downloaded folder into it.

Now from the tray icon open the phpMyAdmin and create a new database called ‘wordpress431’.

Again from tray icon open localhost and click the folder you just copied.Make sure that the url on your address bar is ‘http://localhost/wordpress’. You will see the below screen. Select your language,default is English.In the next screen click Let’s go button.

In the next screen enter your database in our case this is ‘wordpress431’. Next enter the User Name as ‘root’ which is the default one. Leave the pasword field empty, because by default  localhost database pasword is not set. Enter the database host as ‘localhost’. Leave the table prefix field with the default one or you can change this if you want to run multiple WordPress installations in a single database. Now click the submit button.

In the next screen click the run install button.

In the next screen enter the site title and create a User Name and Password for logging in, enter your email and click the ‘Install WordPress’ button.

In the next screen click login button to access the login screen. In the login screen enter the User Name and Password which we creaed earlier to access the administration screen.

So now we have successfully installed the WordPress on our WampServer. I will show you how to install new plugins, themes and create new posts,categories and pages in another post.
